DUT Program at College of Science and Technology, Rinchending
|
A 10-day Diploma of University Teaching (DUT) program for the college lecturers got over at College of Science and Technology in Rinchending on January 03, 07. Altogether 19 participants including 13 lecturers from CST, four from Sherubtse College, one from Jigme Namgyal Polytechnic and one from College of Natural Resources took part in the program. Two resource persons from University of New Brunswick (UNB) jointly conducted the program.
Basically DUT is a teaching program that aims to acquaint lecturers and teachers with the basics of the teaching trade such as planning and writing course outlines, methods of testing and evaluating students. More importantly it tries to help participants discover new ways of engaging their students to make their learning more effective and meaningful.
During the ten day long program at CST participants were introduced to various components of the program such as understanding students, course design, methods of instruction, and evaluating students. The participants also carried out a mini teaching session. This session was video recorded to enable participants to evaluate themselves and get feedbacks from their colleagues and the instructors. |
